Scope of this policy: This Editorial Policy covers the educational content we publish on credit-for-life.com. It does not cover the loan request form at /apply/, which is built and operated by an independent network partner under its own terms, or the offers, sponsored listings, or communications a lender or partner sends you after you submit a request.

Who writes our content

All content on Credit For Life is written and maintained by the Credit For Life Editorial Team. We focus on plain-language explanations of borrowing, California lending rules, and how our loan-matching service works.

We do not publish content under the names of outside contributors, and we do not use invented reviewers, ratings, testimonials or credentials. Our goal is accurate, practical information that helps consumers make informed decisions.

How we research and fact-check

Our editorial team researches every page using primary sources rather than secondary summaries. The sources we rely on most often include:

  • California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) — dfpi.ca.gov
  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — consumerfinance.gov
  • California statutes on the official legislative site — leginfo.legislature.ca.gov
  • Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — ftc.gov
  • National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) — nfcc.org
  • National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) — ncua.gov
  • myFICO — myfico.com

Before publishing any figure about rates, fees or legal limits, we check it against the relevant statute or regulator page. We do not publish statistics, license numbers, or numbers that are not backed by one of these sources.

Update cadence and independence

We review our published content on a regular schedule, at least once per quarter, and immediately whenever we learn of a change to a relevant law, regulation, or lending limit. Each page shows a "Last updated" date so you can see when it was last checked.

Heads up: Credit For Life may receive compensation from lenders and partners in our network, as explained in our Advertiser Disclosure. That compensation supports our free service, but it does not change what our editorial content says. Editorial decisions are made independently of any advertiser relationship.

Corrections

If you believe something on our site is inaccurate or out of date, please let us know. We review every report and correct confirmed errors as quickly as we can, and if a factual error changes our guidance on a page, we update the "Last updated" date to reflect it.

Contact us at (916) 461-1515 or through our Contact page to report a correction. Please include the page URL and a brief description of what you believe is incorrect, along with a source if you have one, so our editorial team can review it quickly.
